I just acquired my first jeep. Ended up with a 98 with a automatic transmission (price was too good to pass up). It already has 33's on it and I want to regear it in order to get a little more top end. From every chart I have been able to find I need to go with something from 3.91-4.27. I tried to search the forum but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the help in advance.

3.91 or 4.27 are not available for stock TJ axles.

4.10 is the most commonly preferred ratio for 33s with the 3 speed automatic. You'll turn about 3,200 RPM at 70 MPH.

You could also do 4.56 if you want more low end and you're ok with 3,500 RPM at 70 MPH.

There is a website designed by a fellow "Jeeper" I believe that is extremely detailed as far as gearing goes, its sole for figuring out gear ratios. You put in a bunch of #'s and it spits out the data you need.
Its called the grim jeeper
