89 YJ EGR Tube after 4.0 head swap

Hi all,

I did the 4.0HO head swap years ago on my 89 YJ 4.2L but recently moved to the Las Vegas area and due to recent law changed I need to pass smog.

For this I need to rig up an EGR Tube. I figure with some fittings I should be able to make something work.

Real question is if anyone knows the thread size of the intake side. I've read it is 7/8-18 but then also someone mentioned a metric size in another post. Just looking for clarification so I can get the right fittings and not have to pull the intake to confirm.

Thanks in advance!

To update in case anyone else is in need I was able to do a few tries with different threads and can confirm the EGR tube uses a 7/8-18.
Is anyone wants to block the intake side of the EGR tube (not usually necessary) you can use Dorman 65231 Oil Drain Plug.

We used to use a nickel under the fitting. It looked stock…
