But on this YJ, there is no duct ( missing? or was it ever there?) and I do not know where it goes...

The oem had a sheet metal “heat stove” on the exhaust manifold and then a 3” slinky hose that hit that fitting on the air filter.

Are you talking about the hose that connects to the bottom of the air box?
