4Wheel Drive Hardware = SPAM!

1420 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  4WDHARDWARE
I improvidently ordered something from 4Wheel Drive Hardware and the SPAM began to flow even before the part arrived. Despite following their "unsubscribe" procedures and separate email to them, I am still inundated with unwanted SPAM from their site.

I'll never deal with them again. Ever.

You shouldn't either unless you crave SPAM. Me, I don't.

Although I empathize with your desire to keep your email clear of unwanted solicitations from retailers, I am confused as to how, in this day and age, you do not have a secondary email you use for any and all online ordering or forms you fill out. I thought everyone had figured out using one email for friends and family - important stuff; and the other for everything else. My secondary email is chock full of e-newsletters, sale ads, and who knows what else. If ever I need/want to see whats on the sale ads, I simply log in. I mark any receipts as "Important" in gmail or "Flag" them in outlook as they come in. That way, if I ever need to find a receipt or shipping info etc, I sort for "Important" and there they are.

It's probably at the point of a phone call now - if you keep your email there as the same. Or simply generate a new gmail email account, and change your email on their site to the new one. It may MAY solve the issue.

Curious as to why you conclude that I don't have a secondary email addy. I'm not enthusiastic about anyone carrying on their marketing program at my expense on any of my email addresses. Spam is the best way to ensure that I'll never do business with them again, irrespective of which email they send the spam to. That's especially so where, as here, I have jumped through their damn'd 'unsubscribe' hoops. With jeep vendors crawling out of the knotholes, I prefer those who value their customers wishes as well as their business.

Agree to disagree. Email, even daily emails on offers about stuff I might buy does not bother me. I either delete or mark as read and move on. It seems like every business is using email as a marketing tool to some degree, and as such, avoiding it is going to be rough. I'm not young by any measure, but things change. I'd rather have 20 emails in 19 days than the junk mail that used to clog up my desk and home. Email is easier to ignore and is still there if you need to go back and reference it easily. On at least 2 occasions I can remember, I've referenced a sale price or special offer that was emailed to me but had expired and on both occasions the sale price or offer was honored long after it was over.

I think you are entitled to your opinion and the unsubscribe should work; however, I also think that in the years to come, people who resent email marketing are going to be really unhappy. I'm a marketing director, so I am biased. That said, the newer generations do not have an issue with it.
