If you are relatively new to the sport, we can help you stay safe on the trails and get a better understanding of your vehicle's capabilities.

If you have been on the trails for a few years, we can refine your skills and send you back to your club or wheeling group with the confidence to step in and help your fellow members learn how to stay safe on the trails.

And even if you are an old salt, we can usually find a bad habit or two that we can help you unlearn.

If you have been participating in organized four wheeling for at least 3 years, have a clean driving record with no previous DUI convictions, please consider sticking around for the session Sunday to earn a certification as an Infield Instructor or Chief Instructor. Ron Nester Trail event in Roscommon

I was planning to attend this training but then I just learned of an event in Roscommon that same Saturday October 20 put on by the Ron Nester dealership. So now i am torn as to which to do!

Well let's look at it objectively...

An afternoon of fun at the dealership (assuming it will be fun)

OR

A day spent learning how to maximize your offroad vehicle's capabilities, learning important 4x4 operating tips and developing your personal driving ability, and learning how to do it in a safe, envronmentally sound way - all of which will benefit you for the rest of your life. Oh and did I mention we still have fun? And lunch is included?

Hi. First post. I'm sincerely bummed that I missed this. Just bought an '03 TJ in Battle Creek and am looking to take a class like this. Anyone know when the next one might take place?

Probably not until next year - in 2012 GLFWDA held 2 classes open to the public, one in Flint in June in cooperation with The Mounds and Davison Community Enrichment and Education, and a second one this past weekend in Kalamazoo, hosted by the Sundowners 4x4 Club. We also sent a crew to Silver Lake to train the park staff in March and another crew to Roscommon in July to volunteer as instructors at the ORV Safety Academy and help train the 2012 ORV Safety Instructor candidates. It's been a busy year for our trainers, so we will probably not set anything up until 2013.
