Received a recall letter last November saying that issues with stalling and not starting have been found, but no fix is available. This is to fix a previous recall on fuel pump relay. As of today still no fix available. I was told during a call to Chrysler that I needed to make an appointment with a dealer. Dealer told me no fix so need for an appointment. I have been having the no start and stall issue for about 6 months. A pretty random happening but getting more frequent, about once per week it won't start. Let it sit for a few minutes and it will start. Any one figure this out yet?

We know this is a frustrating situation and do apologize, Mattsy. Our team recommends staying in touch with your dealer as to when a fix will be available for your vehicle. Should you have any questions in the meantime, your dealer team will be in the best position to assist.

Still no fix!

This is getting to be an every day problem! Try to start and nothing just the starter engaging or it starts and then shuts down right away. Wait ten minutes and it will start. Dealer will not do anything unless it is in a no start situation when it arrives at their shop. I call Chrysler and still no fix. Dealer told me that changing the relay does not fix the problem.

There have been some recent reports in the WK2 subforum that it may be the fuel pump itself causing all these issues. Some draw too much current which over-stresses the relay then eventually fails itself. So the dealer may be waiting for it to fail altogether. Dunno.

Dealer

Just got off the telephone with the dealer, and he told me he is still waiting to here from Chrysler for a fix. Nothing can be done until then. Won't even replace anything, because he does not know what needs replacing in order to fix the problem.

I've had the recall done. They basically make an external fuel pump relay. It also goes bad. Chrysler is too cheap to replace broken TIPMs in 1000s of vehicles so we have to drive our families around in a vehicle that shuts off mid-braking. It's very dangerous and mind blowing that there is no fix yet. Profits over people's lives is the message I'm getting.

This almost caused an accident this winter when my wife and I and our 1yr old were coming off the highway in a snowstorm. The Jeep shut off and killed all power steering and breaking and she slid into the intersection as a truck came through. Luckily nothing happened, but that is all I needed to want to get rid of this death trap Grand Cherokee for good.

If Chrysler won't own up to their issue, then why would I support them in any way? My family could have been destroyed due to a careless "recall fix"

FYI mine is at the dealer again today for the 3rd fix. It's pathetic.

Chrysler finally returned a call and I went to the dealer and they replaced the fuel pump relay to no avail. The parts department manager there has the same issue with his Grand Cherokee also, so they did mine and his at the same time. Chrysler called me back this morning and after talking to my dealer and trying a fix on the parts managers vehicle they determined that there are 2 screws on the fuel pump that were used on the last recall for the fuel pump that are to long and are hitting a couple wires. They changed those screws and so far the parts manager has not had an issue with his vehicle. They are going to run it for a while and see how it goes.

V62 recall performed but still have recurring shutdown issue

I have been anxiously awaiting the fix for faulty relay replacement announced in November 2019. I received notice on December 10 2020 from FCA that parts were now available. I scheduled an appointment at local Folsom CA Jeep dealer to have V62 repair completed. The repair was done on 12/28/2020. Drove the Jeep about 280 miles since repair and the Jeep has shutdown twice in that time. Both instances occurred as prior to the the V62 "fix"; the engine (without any indication) would shutdown as the vehicle was slowing down (<20MPH) and lightly applying braking action; usually when attempting a left/right turn. Immediately lost all power steering/braking; no sputtering or anything. The instrument panel always showed the vehicle in RUN mode.

So, the V62 repair did not fix the issue and I am still perplexed as to what avenue to take for a repair. I love my WK2 but this "repair" shakes any faith I have in FCA.

Any suggestions short of ditching the problem child?

What year engine? There have been reports of the power steering pump drawing enough power in those circumstances, combined with low alternator output, that there is not enough voltage to run.

You could try a different dealer.

VIN 1C4RJFCT2CC106403. Second trip back to dealer on January 6, 2021 after the V62 recall was performed on 12/28/2020. Jeep has stalled twice since then within 450 miles of driving. They could not replicate the stalling issue. They did do a refresh of the PCM for the power train module. On 1/15/2021 and 1/23/2021 the jeep stalled again during slow speed braking action. Scheduled another service with same jeep dealer on 1/25/2021.

Yeah, did the first recall and last week did the recall on recall, the v62 on lady’s 2011 3.6.
Didn’t had problems before but this week it stranded my wife.
Got there on my WK, gas pump not working. After 20 min of testing become frustrated, tapped hard on the relay cover with the screwdriwer handle, it started right away.
Called dealer, they did today .... what’s the name ? the recall on recall on recall?
Come on Chrysler you can do better than that.
Last 20 years had 3 XJ’s, one WJ, still have the CJ and WK (mine), the WK2 (wife’s), looking with interest at Gladiator.
But if you sabotage lady’s Jeep......

It happened again, at the worst possible time.
I was out of my knee surgery, called my wife to come get me, she was stuck 5 miles from clinic in 5F weather.
Before calling me back she tryed to stard many times, battery gave out.
Somebody boosted the Jeep, to no avail.
Groggy from anesthesic I instructed her to whack the TIPM and the new relay with a tool something, started right away.
No problem starting 4 times after.
This Jeep never had problems before and after the first recall, stalled 5 days after the second, and now tree weeks after the third.
She work at home, drove couple times in tree weeks and now she and I lost confidence.
What now?

Contact the dealer, tell them they made things worse. Send a PM to member jeep cares and ask them to facilitate a proper fix. You just may have won the draw of having a bad relay.

Update:
-dealer did the recall, this is the 4-th time, original recall included.
-at home, i looked all connection over, all seem solid, good work.
-drove one week, no problems.
-i made one jumper cable, if doesn’t start, take the relay out, connect the 30 with 87 and you have a working gas pump
-btw, you have problems, check the DTC’s for P0627, fuel pump control circuit open

Stalled again....

'13 Grand Cherokee (manufactured in 2012) would not start in Feb 2020. Towed to local dealer after I read details of the V62 recall online. The temporary fix was installed. No issues whatsoever for a little over a year. Get the notice of a permanent fix and take it in for that the first week of April '21. Two weeks later it won't start. Same issue. Towed back to the same dealership on 4/27/21. Two days later they say it started every time they tried and I was charged $77 for 30 min diagnostics. Drove it home and restarted a few times. Drove it to work and back the next day (4/30/21) and now here we are right now (two days after picking up from dealership) and it won't start again! Where do you go from here?!?

I just find it strange that it was fine for over a year with the temporary fix. Now two failures in two weeks after a so called 'permanent' fix. 😫
