Hey guys. 07 CRD that isn't charging, and it may be an ecm/pcm issue.
Has anyone swapped in a 2 pin alternator with an external voltage regulator?
If so, what Alt did you order, or can I rebuild my oem alt with proper components?
Any guidance would be appreciated
TIA

This is a 2 wire alt, battery cable and a LIN wire?

what is wrong just no charge or to high or low.,

Is there 12v on large wire back of alt?
It is fused to PDC.

what codes does the scanner show?
I am thinking LIN bus code.

So, the Saga continues.. I had the alternator rebuilt. and the battery voltage while running now is in the 14.4v range. I still have P065A (Actuator Supply voltage low) and P0562 (System Voltage low). Along with the Lightning Bolt.
Any and all feedback is appreciated

Saga solved. (This part anyway) I did the oil cooler seals, jeep ran great but wasn't charging. Took the alt out and had it rebuilt. (buddy told me it was oily...go figure) Then had the above codes and limp mode. Simple solution was the sensor into the coolant tank wasn't fully seated.
Its amazing what will force these units into limp mode..
Cheers
