Hi Everyone!
I'm in a bit of a pickle, as the saying goes, with my trusty old Waggy. Basically, my story is that I was living happily with my beloved Waggy out in Central PA until last month when I got laid off and had to move out to North New Jersey to a relatives place. Trouble is, I don't have health insurance now and need to get on Medicaid, which means that I'll have to change my residence info and license from PA to NJ, WHICH means that I'll have to get NJ Plates for the Waggy AND get it past inspection here :/
Now, here's the problem. Its a 24 year old Jeep with rusted out rockers and the lower half of the rear quarters are starting to go, it has a 3" Pro-Comp lift but thankfully running on 215/75R15's but most importantly, the Catalytic converter was COMPLETELY gutted out by Mr. Previous owner :/
Currently, my PA registration is good till Sept 2014 as well as my PA inspection sticker.
My main concerns now are;
1) What are my chances of getting it past NJ Emissions since I have heard that no mechanical inspections are required now?!
2) IF it won't pass its inspection/emissions, any chance that I can run with my current PA inspection and plates for the time being until I can get back on my feet?
3) I have heard that NJ may have lift laws?!
In PA, I knew a certain gentleman who could get me past the state inspection without a hitch since it doesn't even have an OBD port (yay Renix!) but in NJ I know no one! Now I'm getting unemployment for the time being (it aint much but i can get by for now) and I won't mind spending a few hundred to get her into enough shape to pass inspection in NJ, but its starting to seem that I may be losing the battle to keep my poor Waggy
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you and keep on Jeeping everyone!
