On the top of the valve cover are two valves for the CCV system. On Napa, I can only find a "PCV System Elbow", which looks like it only matches the bottom valve (the one closest to the front of the car). Is there a significant difference between those elbows, and are they even both CCV valves...

Hey everyone, I need to replace the valve cover gasket on my inline 6, 258 (4.2 L) & I don't know what the torque specifications are for the bolts (& nuts) that surround it. The cover is plastic, with two bolts that come through the top that are specified to be torqued to 28 inch pounds...

I just bought this 91 XJ. It’s a manual with an AX15 transmission. It is running absolutely terrible. It sounds like a tractor engine. I was going over the engine when I found these 2 lines aren’t connected to anything and don’t know where they go or what is supposed to connect to them. Any info...

While searching for a serious oil leak, I found that my valve cover was missing a bolt in the back. I know now that it is INCREDIBLY difficult to get to which is why it was probably left off in the first place. I’ve tried every swivel socket and extension I can think of. Does anyone have any...

Hey all, Just picked up a CJ7 and I made this account because i'm sure i'll be using it a lot. I just spent the weekend upgrading the valve cover (tapping the holes, mounting it etc.) and that all went off without a hitch. It's sealed well and no oil is leaking. Now however, I am having a...

Bought a aluminum valve cover 15yrs ago to replace an original WARPED plastic valve cover... was told then that it’s pretty but the height and no baffle would cause issues. Since 258 was worn and most emissions were stripped the newer aluminum valve cover worked with this low compression inline...

Hey everyone, I'm still a noob so sorry if there is already a thread on this, but I'm wondering what valve cover gasket to get for my Jeep. It's a 1992 Cherokee with the 4.0 HO motor. I've seen all sorts of different gaskets online- there is an OMIX ADA one, Fel-Pro PermaDryPlus, Fel-Pro...

I recently changed my oil and while doing so I noticed there is some kind of whitish residue on the cap and surrounding areas. Any idea what it is? Jeep is 2000 Cherokee Sport 4.0L. See pics.

Ok, so I see from what all I read that my 94 Wrangler 6cyl uses a CCV system instead of a PCV system. I have two elbows with tubes connecting to the valve cover and manifold. On my Jeep the rear connects to the manifold. The front connects to the air cleaner. I've seen the elbows sold with and...

I'm changing the valve cover on my 1992 XJ w/ 4.0 liter and have a semi-retarded question.... For the ports for the PCV and EGR (one line back to air filter, one back to intake manifold), there are 3 small bolts securing a triangular shaped aluminum piece to the valve cover (one for each port)...

Does anyone know if there is a difference in the valve covers between '92 and 93'+ Wranglers with a 4.0L? I've seen some aftermarket ones that say '93+ and have a different oil fill hole than mine. Just curious if there are any other differences because I want to get a nice aluminum valve cover.

A productive Sunday and Monday: Upgraded valve cover to an Omix aluminum one, new gasket (Felpro Black), upgraded Ford distributor cap and rotor (Team Rush), new plugs, new wires, new thermostat and gasket, new oil & filter, cleaned and painted air cleaner, and topped off tranny fluid. Cranked...

Can someone please take a picture of their 90 elbow joint where a PCV valve would normally go on their valve cover. I have the 256 I6 and the PO put in a 90 elbow with a small hole drilled and I'm not sure if it is supposed to be there. A picture or a description would be much appreciated. I'm...

I have 89 jeep with 4.2 that has a little bit of oil seaping out of pcv, breather, and oil cap grommets. I have checked pcv, it has suction. Breather filter is 1 month old and is soaked in oil now. I have heard that the baffles in these valve covers dont work very well. I have looked for new...

Hello all. I am new to Jeep life. I just bought a 1980 CJ 5. The PO replaced the valve cover with what looks like a 81+ valve cover and epoxyed the gaps. Something I thought would be easy to fix by just changing it out for the correct part. Well as many of you may know, and now I know...

Hi All fellow CJers, I want to share with you a OIL LEAK/lift kit/clearance issue that I think I resolve and was wondering if any of you had experience the same situation. I own an 84 CJ "Josephine or Joe" that I acquired in October of last year. She was stored in the California High Desert...

I originally had problems with my rear driver window! :( I took my jeep to uncle (supposedly a mechanic). Asked about some voltage issues. He said alternator junk (replaced this in 12/10) and would let me sit and losing oil from front of valve cover gasket seal. I let window go (he kept the...
