Hi all, I'm hoping to find the torque numbers for the damper nuts for my six-cylinder 1974 CJ-6 please? It's a mid-wheelbase with the three-speed manual, I've bought some new dampers for it but don't want to rip the old ones off until I have the right number. Thanks muchly, StuM, South Australia.

Does anyone know what the torque is supposed to be on the valve cover bolts? I replaced the gaskets today and want to make sure I do not go to tight or loose. I have searched around here and Googled it and am coming up with nothing. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Hey guys, I'm wondering if other bushings are prone to failure on these rigs besides the notorious front differential bushings. For example, do the transmission bushings go out regularly? The reason I ask is I get a "clunk" at very low speeds, like stop and go traffic, whenever I press the...

Any advice that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. I have a 04 wrangler and it all started with multiple cylinder misfires. I changed spark plugs, ignition coil, camshaft and crankshaft sensors and my misfires when away. ( I did properly gap the plugs ) But now I have no check...

I have heard several different things. Torque them while off the ground, others say finger tight then lower then tighten. I have already tightened and torqued the axles nuts, the wheel bearing bolts etc. The only thing left is the breaks and the tie rods. Decided to upgrade them since it was...

So I destroyed my '95 YJ's 2.5L. I decided to go ahead and grab up a 4.0L not because I need anymore power in the woods, (the 2.5 has to be the best 4 cyl. I have ever encoutered) but because I would seriously love some more power on the road. However, that doesn't mean I think road performance...

So I've had some concerns when asking around about ditching the "third" catalyst in a 3 Cat system on the '00-'06 4.0L engines. I know as far as the computer is concerned it doesn't matter if it's there or not based on the 02 Sensors being located at the mini cats off the manifold. What I've...

I recently bought some black spline lug nuts for my TJ. My concern is the fact that the spline nuts are skinnier than the stock lugs. This means that the seat on the new lugs is about half the super of the seat on the stock lugs. Will this be a problem? Am I likely to cause damage, lose a wheel...

Driving on a 3 hour trip in 5th gear engine began to loose torque, so i pulled over to check, everything appeared fine. When i cranked it back up it drove fine for about 30 mins till it happened again. There was a very faint squeaking noise when pushing on the gas pedal. When it lost speed it...

I'm installing a 2" BB along with new control arms, bushings for both sway bars, and bushings for both track bars. This might be a dumb question but whats everything that I should torque to spec? I know the wheel lugs must be, but anything else? (Control arms, shock bolts, ect) Also do I torque...

I have a 97 XJ 4.0L that is at the moment fully stock. I have heard a lot of talk about the 4.0l engine loosing power with bigger high flowing pipes. I would still like to increase my HP and torque. with the mods listed below, does anyone have any info/experience with choosing the correct pipe...

I tried to search for this, but could not find it, so if it is already here would someone let me know where it is? The front brakes on my 5.9 Limited are as thin as paper so I ordered a set of EBC Yellowstuff pads and a new set of Centric Premium rotors as recommended by people on Jeep Forum...

Long story kind of short, I have a friend wanting to unload an engine from a parts car he isn't using. Its a rebuilt 283 from a 62 Impala 4 door. He has a Biscayne 2 door that he's built and got the car for cheap for parts except he doesn't need the motor. My story is I was going to buy a...

I finished installing my aussie and have to retorque these bolts. I have gathered from the forum that 45 ft. lbs. is the spec per the FSM. I did tighten the bolts to this and it seemed a little too small an amt. of torque for such an important part. Am I just paranoid of what? :dunno: Thanks...

I know I saw it, can't find it now. 2001 lug nut torque anyone? Also, I use anti-seize compound on marine outboards, which typically have pretty low torque specs, and never had anything work loose. Thinking of using it on everything Jeep, after breaking off all those upper shock bolts. Is it...
