It’s no great secret among stick-shift Jeep owners that the six-speed NSG370 manual fitted to the JK Wrangler and later TJ models is prone to some sloppiness. Sourced from Mercedes-Benz, the NSG370 transmission was the first six-speed stick ever offered in a Jeep, and while it’s a good, durable...

Hey all, Recently got an 07 wrangler used and had some work done on the transmission, replaced the clutch, as well as had to replace the camshaft and lifters. The mechanic threw Pureguard 75w90 in the tranny and after a lot of digging around I'm not sure it was the right choice. I've seen a lot...

I own a '06 TJ, 6 speed manual transmission. I had a SYE installed over a year ago and it fried something in my TC. I will need a replacement. To have a shop rebuild a new TC with a SYE will cost me a lot. Quadratec.com sells TCs with SYE kit already installed but only ones that fit the AX-15...

No forward gears, only reverse. I have a bone stock 2008 JK with the NSG370 in it. Put it in first gear the other night, let off the clutch, and it jumped out of gear, made a loud popping sound, and then I had no forward gears. Tried putting it in 4wd to move it out of the road, and the jeep...

I have a 08 JK with the NSG-370 6-speed transmission and I've researched all about the throw out bearing problem. I had the dealership put in a new one about 9,000 miles ago and it went bad. I also had them replace the clutch kit. A couple of weeks ago I replaced the bearing and the slave...

Hi everyone, I have an 05 3.7 kj with 2" lift on 30' silent armors with the 6-speed manual transmission (NSG370). Everything about this car works almost perfectly (no codes)...except for I'm having minor transmission problems. When I'm driving around (even more so when it's cold)...

Ok, So I bee tracking this noise a while, It not the belt drive (sound exists with no belt), Not the OPDA (changed out already).. But the noise seems to be coming from the bellhousing area. It makes the sound idling speed only, in gear clutch in, in gear idling, idling clutch out in neutral...

I have a 1993 YJ with a AX-15 that has a broken shaft and no 5th gear. Locally, I can get a used NSG-370 out of a 2005 TJ with only 50k miles on it for about $500. I'm wondering if it would be a good swap. I've heard it would be better on the interstate and with MPG, but I might lose a little...

I am looking for suggestions on removing a stripped six speed transmission drain plug in 2005 wrangler? Does anyone know where I can get another plug? The plug is 100% STRIPPED AND I THOUGHT ABOUT WELDING A BOLT ON IT TO BREAK IT LOOSE?

I bought the jeep with 51K kms. Shortly I found the gear shifting was rough. At 54k kms I changed trans fluid to Amsoil synchromesh. The stock fluid level was quite low, dirty and thick. The drain plug has moderate metal accumulations. Good shifting after that. At 65k, I changed the fluid...

I read in the transmission specs that the 6 speed works with the 4 banger and inline 6. So that works out with what I have now and what I will probably be upgrading to. Found this ad: 2005-06 Jeep Wrangler 6 Speed Transmission. Only 34k miles. For a 4.0. Use as a replacement or swap out your 5...
