So I just got this Jeep and I'm trying to figure out if I need to regear it. This is my first Jeep ever, I'm not a grease monkey, so I'm trying to learn all that I can and am trying to understand gear ratios and when regearing needs to occur. According to the manual it is 3.6L manual...

I am wondering if there is a way to find out what gear system my jeep has. It is a 2017 JKU Sport. I have the build sheet that says 3.21, but it also says trailer tow group, which in other forums it means it has the 3.73 ratio. I really do not want to take anything apart to look. It has the 4...

I bought a 1981 jeep CJ7 late last year with a V8 304 engine with a 5 speed manual transmission. The jeep is lifted and has 33x12.50 R15LT 108 R tires on it. The rear differential is a DANA 60 with a ring gear markings that show the following stamped on the side of the ring gear: 6 2944 DANA D...

I have stock axles front and rear with 3.31 gears. After my cummins swap, I’d like to swap down to 2.72 gears. I think I’ll need a new carrier in the amc 20 to work with the 2.72 gears, but I’m not sure. Will I be able to swap the ring and pinions for both axles? Or will I need new carriers as...

I have 35's but want to get a upgraded rear end first. I was looking for used Dana 44 but can't find any locally. I found some 8.8's one geared 3.73 and one 4.10. My stock gears now are 3.73 front and rear. If I get the 4.10 would I have to re gear the front axle? Or should I get the 3.73 rear...

I have a 2001 TJ 4.0 with a 4" lift, long arms, and 35's. I have a d30 in the front and a 44 in the rear. Currently running a 3.73 gear ratio. Should this be changed? I don't know much about this topic. Also, this is my daily driver.

So after reading the FAQ I jacked my jeep up and turned the wheel one complete turn (both wheels spun). The drive shaft turned more than 4 times but not more than 4 1/2 times. When I bought the jeep I was told that the rear(ford 9") had 4.56. Now I'm second guessing that. So here's the real...

I just want to share some information... 2.73 gears and 31x10.5 tire do not play nice with each other. Since I purchased my CJ7 about 4 years ago, the clutch always seemed a bit touchy. When taking off from a complete stop, either ride the clutch or stall it. I had always excepted this as...

Hi folks. My girlfriend is looking to get a Wrangler, most likely a JK. My very limited knowledge of the JKs tells me to look for the 3.71 gearing, if not 4.10. Now I know that it *should* be tagged on the rear diff cover, but sometimes the tag is missing. And I know the 'spin the tire' trick...

Howdy folks. Haven't owned my 05 LJ for 2 weeks even but already I'm putting together a list of upgrades and mods. One thing I was told by a local Jeep shop was that my LJ was out of it's power band. The previous owner put a 4" suspension lift and bigger, wider 33" tires, along with a 1" wheel...

First, I'm new to Jeepin' and off-roading and not historically a "car guy". So what does someone like me do? I buy a 2006 TJ already loaded with a ton of extras that I really don't quite understand yet. (yea! me) I've been trolling Jeep Forum looking to gain some knowledge on my new toy and...

I recently bought a low mileage 2006 LJ Rubicon where I'm the 2nd owner (and I'm new to jeeps...). The original owner had an Avenger Supercharger installed by San Diego Superchargers when the vehicle was new so it also has a Split Second Timing Controller installed. The tires are Toyo Open...

So I finally have a few bucks left after x-mas shopping, not much but enough to finally do something for my poor little jeep. I've been riding around for more than a year with a 3.73 ratio and 31" tires which is under geared by a good .40th of a turn. I also have a dropped Transfer case to...
