Hello I have a small problem. When my jeep is parked on the hill and I switch gear from Drive to Reverse I hear a strange loud clunk noise. It happens also from time to time in flat surface. Only from P to R gear. Is it something to worry about? Or is it a typical symptom? Here you can...

Hey guys, I'm wondering if other bushings are prone to failure on these rigs besides the notorious front differential bushings. For example, do the transmission bushings go out regularly? The reason I ask is I get a "clunk" at very low speeds, like stop and go traffic, whenever I press the...

First noticed this in Moab. I can feel a clunking in the floor and even in the pedal when driving. Happens over small bumps and at very low speeds, like when creeping forward with my foot on the brake. Feels like a bushing is missing, or a loose caliper, loose exhaust, but so far I can't track...

Ok, so here are the symptoms : 1) When I step on it hard from a stand still, the car seems to "clunk" into gear, then it's fine. 2) When I stop sometimes, it seems to sometimes "clunk" when I come to stop. 3) It mostly seems to do this when warmed up. Any thoughts?

Hello all, I'm a Soldier stationed overseas and a new jeep owner. Bought a 2003 lifted Rubicon about a year ago; and I've loved it ever since. Recently, about two months ago I started hearing a loud clunking noise coming from the rear axle when I turn right (it just started doing it slightly...

I'm getting a really annoying loud clunk/rattle from the rear liftgate when temp is below around 50 degF (which it hasn't gotten up to for a few weeks). It sounds like the liftgate is not closed fully, but it is. I've replaced both the liftgate striker and latch mechanism recently, and adjusted...

I recently purchased a bone-stock 2000 XJ w/145,000. The only discernible issue with it was a leaking output shaft seal (apparently a common problem) that I just fixed today. While I was down there I lubed the slip yoke and inspected all the u-joints and everything checked out fine. When I...

I have a clunking noise coming from the driver side rear tire. It was most noticeable when coasting but not accelerating. I could move the tire side to side and hear the clunk. I thought it was the wheel bearing causing the noise. I had the bearing and retainer ring replaced. I also replaced the...

I am trying to figure out what this noise is when I turn my tires full lock I get a clunking noise from my transfer case (I think) It looks like the front shaft slows down when it happens to. I'm not sure what it is I just put new ujoints and a ball centering kit on the front shaft thinking it...

I started hearing a clunking when I turn to the left or going over a bump. Through some research I'm about 95% sure it's the sway bar as it clunks when I rock it from side to side. I haven't been able to find any information about how to fix this problem though. Any help would be appreciated...

I have a 2004 Liberty Renegade, and the 4X4 engagement is by a lever on the console. Recently, when I move the lever our of 4X4 on the highway I get what feels like hitting a hard bump on the road but is really related to getting out of 4x4 mode. Vehicle has 97,000 miles and has been driven...

I'm having an issue with my drivetrain that I can't seem to diagnose. I first noticed a rubbing/grinding (more like a rubbing) sound coming from underneath (center-rear) that cycles faster as I increase my speed. I'm not totally sure that it's linked to my main concern, but I thought it might...

Just a minor service update... Been experiencing a persistent clunk, rattle, squeak from the rear end. 100 000km logged, assumed to see some bushing wear. Though passenger side was worse than driver, Lateral and Toe Links were shot and run around $80 to $100 a piece. Checked the front end...

From a stop light I hit the gas, I hear 1-3 quick "clunk" sounds. The sound you'd imagine a extra hitch in your back stowage area rolling around might make. Don't hear it again till I brake... roll up to a light, then tap the gas again. It's a quick clunk, clunk, clunk usually. I don't...
