Alright, so I got a wild hair and thought that I could swap in an 8.8 for my dana 35 in the rear. I am about halfway through my project and I am having some concerns. 1. When I weld up all the mounts and mock it all up if my measurements are off a little bit whats going to happen? 2. If it is...

OK, so I've done an axle swap putting in a 8.8 with a 4.10 gear and stock limited Slip. I just bought Revolution 4.88's gears and a Detroit locker for the front. When I put the rear end together I just used whatever gear oil I had knowing that I was going to be replacing it in the near future. I...

Quick back story- I broke a bolt in the yoke, I went to my neighbors house to use his air tools. Pulled the yoke out and sudden urgency a day or so later and I had to move the jeep. Pinion fell back and the bearing locked it up, couldn't rotate it enough to get to the bolt that holds in the...

I have 35's but want to get a upgraded rear end first. I was looking for used Dana 44 but can't find any locally. I found some 8.8's one geared 3.73 and one 4.10. My stock gears now are 3.73 front and rear. If I get the 4.10 would I have to re gear the front axle? Or should I get the 3.73 rear...

Hello everyone, I have a question about my 8.8 rebuild and the Artec Swap Kit. After reading through many threads about the 8.8 swap it seems that a lot of guys like to weld the tubes to the housing to keep them from spinning and I wasn't sure if this was a more prominent problem with leaf...

Almost finished my 8.8 swap, but I get conflicting thread sizes when searching. So can someone please tell me the correct thread size I need to drill and tap the 8.8, so I can use my brake distribution block/axle vent from my D35. Thank you

I have 1991 jeep yj and I am looking to put a locker in it, but I don't know which one, or if I should put it in the front or rear. It has a ford 8.8 in the back and a Dana 30 in the front. Im not an extreme 4x4er, just sometimes on the weekend. Which would be the best locker for me without...

Anybody got a step by step or video on exact what's needed to swap in an 8.8 for a 35? Also, I have ABS. Will I lose that with an 8.8?

Hi everyone, I have a 92 yj and when I got it, it had some rust on the frame. Right where the shock absorber is in the rear. Finally my passenger side side broke where it connects to the axle. And on my other one it's about to break at the top where it connects to the frame of the jeep. Where...

I'm a little lost here. I have a 95 YJ and I'm looking into either a lock for the rear wheels or a Limited slip, I know that the Dana rear I currently had would not be able to handle a lock, and I was trying to either put a D44 or an 8.8 in I found both of these on Craigslist but am also not...

So I picked up an 8.8 with drums for $50 today. It has drums. I know everyone says to get the disk 8.8 blah blah. I figure they're bigger than d35 drums, whatever. Anyways: Do I need all the same brake lines as if I were doing a disk 8.8 swap. Or will my d35 hoses fit the 8.8? Same with the...

So I had a newly put together ford 8.8 and the new emergency/parking brake parts didn't work. I kept cranking on the Jeep adjuster on the tub and nada. Search turned up bits and pieces on how to do this but nothing that was overly conclusive. I figured I can't be the only one. Tools- -13mm pass...

Alright, I'm new to this whole Jeep thing. I posted another thread about my missing air filter, and got lots of other advice about my lift(s) that made me a bit anxious about the safety of my new project. So I'm going to post some pics I took today, and if you could give me some idea as to what...

Certain things in the jeep world come as a given. Fill your Jeep with gas, make sure it has oil to leak on the ground, and make sure you take the top off so you can get rained on. Some things don't always make sense at first, why would i want to tear my jeep apart just to put in a different...
