Jeep Information

This is my first forum and posting...

My Jeep-
1996 Cherokee Sport
4.0L, automatic, NP231J
Recent 3” SA lift (BDS)
Recent ALCA & ATB (Core 4x4)
Currently installing AA SYE, T-Case rebuild, Tom Wood’s rear drive shaft

Back story- disassembled t-case and range shift fork and range hub both toast (Metal on Metal).

Some questions about my t-case rebuild-

1) I removed toasted range fork with casting number 16976. Can I install fork with casting number 17833 in its place? (When ordering new fork by year of Jeep and NP231 this is what comes up) I ordered one and it looks very similar but some differences.

2) I ordered replacement range shift hub based on year of Jeep and NP231. It is similar but some differences. Old one has continuous internal splines. New one has three segments of internal splines (or two gaps making non continuation in splines). Outside is slight difference with two small grooves around outer surface which seems to be insignificant.

Any help appreciated.
