I have about 1.75-2" of engagement. before lift when jeep was stock I had 3"+ (gauging this by the rust marks on the yoke.

If the 2004 WJ is easily accessible then remove the sway buyshin bracket, sway bar bushing, and sway bar and swap all of them to your current jeep. You are way over thinking this.

We have already noted the size difference in the bars. If you have a set of measuring calipers, measure the outside diameter. Other than that, only way to really tell is by cutting it in two pieces....
