You can get more than a 3# difference in readings...

You can get more than a 3# difference in readings with the same gauge just by the way you hold it. Constancy with readings is most important to me.

Turn the key on and let it sit for a few seconds...

Turn the key on and let it sit for a few seconds before cranking. If this helps it start quicker it could be the anti-drain back valve in the fuel pump. It could also be a leaking fuel injector.
