Probably one of the best mods I have done, Mine being an 89 did not pick up the power yours did but I did get 5+ mpg. Put a shroud on the air filter and wrap the header for cooler under hood temps....

My 89 runs 170-180 on an idle, then while driving around 200-205. I don't think you really have a problem unless your not hitting about 190 while driving.

The only thing that has helped my fuel economy so far is a Taurus fan replacing my mechanical fan. not sure exactly how much so far but my last tank was up from a consistent 16mpg to about 18.5mpg.
