I see what you’re saying, but on mine it does allow drag link rotation. Not much, but it’s always been like that since new. I can twist the drag link by hand. (Unless that’s normal tolerance built...

Yes, but it’s not a hinge joint that only swivels in one plane. It would still HAVE to move in another plane to prevent bind. The movement should be minimal, but if it were a pure hinge joint, it...

Another way to explain: imagine an oil filled canister with a hole in it filled full with oil. Try to take a cylinder and push it in the hole. If it is sealed well, you wouldn’t be able to push it...

Through the piston itself, yes it does. I should have said “piston rod.” The piston rod itself takes up and lets out interior volume of the inside of the shock. Without compressible interior...

Jerry, I should clarify: Not the piston itself, but the piston rod changes the interior volume of the shock as it moves. If the inside of the shock didn’t have a compressible space, the rod would...

The only thing I could think of is a racing application where stabilizer performance outweighs drivability. For a daily driver it’d be terrible.

I think they mean that it has gas in it, but under low pressure. All shocks need a small amount of compressible space since as the piston moves in and out, the interior volume of the shock changes. ...

Yes, all four joint ends in the steering linkage are designed to swivel in all angles. That’s because as the steering turns from side to side and the suspension compresses, all four joints need that...

I think it was just a press fit, no clips to deal with or anything. Prying it out with a small screwdriver should work. It is designed to be able to come out, so I wouldn’t worry about breaking it.

For the upper one, you’d pull that gray center piece out first. It locks the pins in place. IIRC, each individual pin is lightly held in place by a small plastic clip. No special tools needed when...

Toyotas and Toyota axles.

This issue has always interested me:
The Toyota axles have 8” ring gears and are 31 spline, very similar in strength and size compared to D44s and at least HP30s. The older Toyota’s were very...

How many pumps should be put in the slip splines per greasing? I know too much at once puts too much pressure in there, but at the same time I want to get enough in to lube is sufficiently.
