One of the ways I used to diagnose bad pcm's in the shop that were failing due to pcb's coming unsoldered is freeze and bake them to see if the problem replicates itself when cold versus hot.

Anytime you remove the battery cables the pcm reverts to some basic programming code, if the demons go away and come back in short order that's a pretty reliable red flag your pcm is shot.
