Stock transfer case strength questions

Is a 241 Rubicon T-case (4:1) stronger than a 241 non-Rubicon T-case (2.73:1)?

Are those stronger than a 231 T-Case?

How do they compare for strength, durability, reliability?

I want to run 30 X 9.5 R15 tires on a DD and mild weekend warrior.

I know that my last XJ (a 96) had a Selec Trac and 30 X 9.5 R15 tires, and I stretched out the T-case chain bad enough for it to...

Thanks. Any more info about the slight upgrade is welcome. I might go look at Pirate later, but I prefer to stick to JF because people here are (usually) nicer.

You'll miss your XJ. I miss mine. I traded my 96 XJ for an 06 LJ.

Keep your XJ. If you can buy the Wrangler, then have both. If you can only own one, keep the XJ.

I want to buy another XJ for...

At what temperature does your XJ stock electric fan turn on? 230F? 220F?

Mine came on at 230F, which I always thought to hot because it leaves no safety margin. Running at 230F won't hurt anything...

The 96 XJ (I owned for 10 years) stock electric fan has a stock sensor that makes it come on at 230F - apparently because Chrysler doesn't consider it to be overheating until hotter than 230F? I used...

4L engines run best at 215F to 220F is fine too. Much better gas mileage than when running colder. Engine stays much cleaner when running hotter. Plugs, valves, bottom half of engine, oil are all...

Selec Trac question

On later model XJ with Select Trac (like say 1998 and later), is there a way to beef up the transfer case?

Are their upgrade kits that can increase the chain strength and/or other internals?

I...

Thanks for helping me figure out how to run my dad's Garmin. He'll appreciate it since one of his classic cars (a 1950s Chrysler Imperial) has a speedometer that's not working very well.

My dealership claims that Chrysler won't allow them to adjust speedometers. They claim it's illegal for them to do so.

Meanwhile, I know of other dealerships elsewhere in the USA that have...

Will tire prices go back down some after the tariff ends? Possibly a dumb question, but worth asking. I want larger tires than I have now, but I've 90% to 95% tread and can wait for years if...

The CT are very popular with loggers in my area because they make a great DD tire for their pickup trucks and other 4x4s, Jeep included. Loggers have to drive a lot of highway miles to get to work,...

P.S. - for winter roads, the narrower the tire the better. That's one reason I'm running 33 X 10.5 R15. The narrow tires are much better on icy and/or snowy winter roads, offering better forward...

Since you are in Alberta Canada, I think I can safely assume you have winter road conditions to contend with.
