Why can't he just drill out the stud? That's what I did when I couldn't get my factory locking wheel nut off and the usual tricks (like hammering on an undersized socket) didn't work.

Yeah, the compressor won't do anything. Unplug the clutch connection or remove the AC relay if you're that worried, but the pressure switch shouldn't let the clutch engage anyway.
