The steps are quick detachable. If you pull two pins, the majority of the step comes off. The remaining part of the step only hangs down 1/8".

They mount through the pinch seam at the bottom of the body and up into the cavity behind the pinch seam. After looking at the smittybilt SRC rocker guards, I see no reason why they won't work...
