If you go aftermarket, make sure to seam seal the all the seams. Will make it last much longer. I used the "Key Parts" brand frame and the overall quality was pretty good.

I think you will have to either replace the turn signal switch (the connector is part of the complete assembly), or just leave it as is and let the connector that it plugs into it hold it together.

The came turns at half the speed of the crankshaft, so it takes 2 crank revolutions for the cam to go around once.

So if it happens every 2 revolutions, it's definitely cam / valve train related.
