It doen't take long, just make sure the grommet that the PCV valve plugs into is soft and not hardened. If it gets hard, it won't make a good seal.

...also, check the gromets that the valve and the vents plug into on the valve cover. They are cheap, and if yours are hard, they won't seal correctly.
