I'm surprised no one has mentioned that XJ windshields are integral to the unibody structural support which is why it's a task often left to professionals.

That sounds like a good solution that'll allow some precision in squaring up. Maybe drill a few more weld through holes in the outer section then grind smooth for plating. You may be in virgin waters...
