I gotta agree with Ken, If your getting a CJ go with a pre-83 model because of the simplicity of the wiring. Check it really good for rust, and be prepared to have a money and time consuming...

as long as it's a single wire (resistance)...

as long as it's a single wire (resistance) sending unit it should work with your guage. I would just check your local parts house
