I agree... I think the general population appreciate older jeeps. I think a LOT of newer jeep owners have no idea of the history of jeeps before their model year.
That's why I personally try to keep...

Yep... it's pretty bad. It's about 1.60 a litre for regular, which is about $6.00 CDN for a US Gallon, so about $4.70 US a gallon. And right now we've had supply issues, so we're restricted to 30...

Just to finish this thread topic in case anyone searches later for the topic... The SR4 to T4 swap worked really well. I may have preferred a T5 for the overdrive one day, but I found an OEM T4 on FB...

Great answers! Thanks to all. I'm a pretty social guy by nature, so I'll wave to anyone who waves - I felt bad for accidentally snubbing a couple of wrangler drivers that waved and I didn't notice...

Dumb Question...'Jeep wave' after 30 years away.

Since there's no 'Dumb question' subforum, I'll ask here. I just got my '81 CJ7 on the road with the T4 trans in place of the SR4 and took her out for a 90 minute shake down cruise with the top off....

I'm guessing Matt's right. I don't know how to confirm the gearing, but when I was driving it for an hour - though I didn't go on the highway - I barely used 4th.

I've made a deal for the T4 and...

SR4 to T4 swap? for Budget and Parts availability reasons (Canada)

I did manage to get out for an hour long cruise yesterday after getting the '81 CJ7 running. I knew the SR4 was pretty sloppy when I started but found more quirks as I went along. Most notably trans...

Thanks! Whatever I did today worked great. When I was taking off the breather I noticed a vacuum line disconnected from the rear base of the carb. I reconnected it, fired it up, and she ran...

Thanks all. Here are some more pics. It actually runs really smooth on startup, but then bogs down after it runs for 5 minutes and then stalls. I confess to not having had a carbureted vehicle since...

She’s running at least!

I took a chance buying this stock-ish 1981 CJ-7 with a 258, a couple of weeks back. It had no fuel tank and the guy that I bought it off - bought it without the tank as well. So it hadn’t run for...

I had to order the MTS from Quadratec and have it shipped to Canada - but I'll take your advice on this and send the Omix back when it arrives.

Thanks.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I ordered a stock front bumper and I'm keeping the winch for now. I love winches (and wenches). Even though this one is an off shore (cheaply) built one, it's 8,000...

wow... Thanks Keith. Those pics are great. Without pulling the tank out - there were a couple of mysteries. You pretty much cleared most of them up with those pics. Thanks!

Yeah... I do prefer that clean stock look. I think its a pretty cheap bumper too.
I'll hang on to them for now - Especially the winch (Sorry Jeepfeller). I can use it around the property. My 82 year...

CJ Grill - one of my favorite parts

The new to me '81 CJ7 came with a Champion 8000 pound winch and a big *** black bumper. And while I appreciate the value of both - I won't be heavy off-roading at all. One of my favorite parts of the...

Thanks to all. I realized last night after looking at the old tank again that the merged lines in the 'Y' in the one pic are actually the vent lines not the fuel supply and return lines. That was...
