A lot tougher than a dana 30. Scout guys routinely run 37's on the scout 44's (with ford outers) but that's the upper limit of a LP 44.

I don't see 40mpg ever out of a 4bt in a jeep. Maybe 30 if you're babying it at 60 in 5th. Are you sure your speedo/odometer is accurate??
