I replaced the rear CV with the Dorman kit last summer and bought that front one in the above post just in case so I have it sitting in my collection of spare Jeep parts....

I would fix that rad right away, you're most likely getting air in the coolant causing that. You don't want to overheat these engines with the aluminum heads, they are not like the old cast iron...

I did that job last summer, the front CV was fine so I did the work from underneath didn't even remove the shaft all the way, just used a thin screwdriver to work the rear CV loose from the transfer...

If you can find a set the Mopar Ecodes are great, I was able to find a pair on ebay a few months back, but if not the Crown Ecodes are an acceptable substitute, I have used them close to 20 years....

with the ZJ overheating when the AC is on, could be a worn out fan clutch, with a good thermostat, clean radiator good fan clutch it should not overheat. Ours will not go over 210.

Thanks for the follow up. Sounds excellent. I have an OBD-2 scanner but it only does engine and abs codes. This seems to do all the rest. Very useful with CANBUS issues
