Jeep_XJ No trimming, just replace the whole center trim panel with one made for a double din. Fifty bucks, easy peasy.

How much trimming of the dash internals did it take? I saw a lot of people has to cut into the duct system to fit double din.

kluttsy01 Buddy told me he's stripping his cherokee apart to make it a strict mud jeep, told me I could take whatever I wanted so I got myself an actual headliner! Cane out of an 01 even has the sound bar. It didnt have any fabric but that just made it even better.

If I lose the ability to shift I'd probably consider that, but otherwise I'm talking about just wishing they came factory.

She's a beaut. I do like the way the 4.0/AX-15 combo drives. I added a B&M short shifter which really makes the shifting feel more direct and less like I'm driving an old farm truck. I do wish the AW4 was in the TJ, and ZJ/WJ. Chrysler automatics are just garbage. And the early TJs had a 3 speed auto... really, a 3 speed in 1997?? The AW4 might not be the smoothest, but with Dex/Merc III fluid drain and fills every 30k and a trans cooler my XJ was silky smooth.
