I know when I get stuck in a class with a bunch of fleet navy or straight stick seabees the attitude is usually bottom of the barrel. Usually complaining about any little thing just to complain. I don't know, I wasn't straight stick seabee for long, but when I was I didn't have any worries.

I understand your opinion, I know that just because you hated it doesn't make you a dirtbag. I think honestly it's a community thing, I've seen it in some communities. One or two bad classes get pushed through, and it's like cancer, the attitudes drop. But it goes both ways, one or two guys in a twelve man det that really love their job, it's contageous.

Enough ramblin out of me. Take care bro, best of luck.
oorah! i myself am a motard and i prefer to be around motards. im just sick of pukes flooding the navy and the rest of the military and making it a bad place to be.

cactus_jack yea, it definitely all boils down to which command you're a part of. A lot of people notice all the dirt bag sailors are the ones doing most of the complaining. I loved being an HT and most of us in Repair Division took care of each other. We were probably the most tight knit group of people on board honestly. I had fun while I was in, I did my share of hard work and my evals reflected it. All but one of my evals onboard the truman were EP and I do believe I earned them. It's just the way things are ran and the way people are treated in the navy that bothers me. Just because you're not a khaki, doesn't mean you have to be treated like a 3 year old, and that was my main problem. Im a grown *** man and will be damned if some chief who's been to mast 3 times is going to tell me how to dress in civilian clothes or tell me how to talk or walk...just a problem for me, lol

kyalbert I loved the Navy. 6 years, E1 to E5, learned computing, turned it into a 6 figure income. Not bad for a High School Dropout from a very poor background.

SunDevilJeeper dude you shoulda gone seabees, we're a different breed of the navy. we take care of our own and MOST OF US know what it means to be in the military and what it means to be apart of a family.

im glad i went into this job field because not only do i get to play with big guns and big trucks, but i know that no matter what, wherever i go i'll have a whole battalion worth of seabees that will come to my aide when i call for help. and i would gladly do the same for those dumb*ss, asvab waiver people i call my family. oorah!

sorry to hear that your time in the fleet sucked that bad.

cactus_jack i always thought about working for MSC. Seems like a good deal

Apollo21 I completely understand what you are saying and please don't call me sir i'm still a mid i don't deserve it yet. We have officers (m/n) here who treat us like that. We also have M/N officers who treat us with respect for the work we do. I'm a plebe BTW so i am learning what it means to be at the bottom of the chain of command.

I'm not at Annapolis as i stated before. I'm at the Merchant Marine Academy so i will go USNR. While working in the private sector of military shipping like MSC (military sealift command).

well man, here's how us enlisted dudes see it. Academy officers have a bad rep because most of them are ****** bags. As long as you're not an *** to your junior sailors serving below you, they will treat you with respect. Don't be a jerk just because you wear a khaki uniform. There are too many academy officers out there that be straight up ****** bags just because they can be. Don't get a chip on your shoulder and respect the ones turning the wrenches and swabbing the p-ways. They bust their arses for you and you should acknowledge that and respect it. Good luck to ya...sir

Denz I knew a MM3 was a nuke drop out. We allways gave him crap about him not earning his Chevron like the rest of us. Yes, it is nice to see fellow R-DIV guys on here. Though I am kinda a snipe too. The last ship that I was on the MR was in A-GANG and I have to stand watch in the main engine room underway, so hence the EN/MR. And it just allways seem that those EN's love to break stuff. Allmost as must as the Airdales like breaking off bolts in those dam EA6B Prowlers.
