I am up in Yorktown and would love to go sometime, but I have a stocker(no money) so it should be fun.

Next time you are going to Mt. Beacon let me know.
Mt. Beacon is totally illegal. Zero of the multiple land owners want off-roaders there, and they have allowed eco orgs (Scenic Hudson and such) to manage the place, which means the police enforce things. The last thing the 4x4 community needs is people knowingly using illegal trails.

I am in Dutchess County, and have been wheeling a LOT, and have not been on Mt Beacon since 2000 at least. You CAN enjoy the sport legally, just join a club to learn where to ride.

I am down for wheeling almost anytime, although I go alot at night because it fits my schedule easier.
I just have to throw my hardtop on though, been mad cold driving the highway back home after wheeling at 2am. burrrrrr

I found out the pinions aren't such a big deal so I'll wait till I get the time or replace them with someone that knows what's up. Thanks for the number though!

Yo! Sorry man. Totally impromptu meet today! I was telling my friend about the first time I felt slightly inadequate with my new used stock Jeep was when I met your Jeep! LOL. Note to Jeep nubes with stock Jeeps: Don't park next to awesome modded Jeeps! LOL

I promise to pm you next weekend (Indian Summer please!). I saw nothing solid about a meet this weekend so I went to church in my childhood town and after talking to proper authorities did a little exploring. Turned out great. Best thing would be to pm me with your cell #'s cause I was able to call one friend out in PV and he was there and ready in about 45 minutes!

curtagain, could you post bigger photos, maybe different angles? I can't make out the plate numbers on those trucks. The Environmental Protection Officers will need to know. You can just PM the plate numbers to me if that is easier. I posted above of that location, Mt Beacon NY being illegal. If you want a 2nd opinion, I am sure I can get one. Local groups fight with land owners and governments every day to try to get legal places for you and I to wheel. This sort of irresponsible activity just makes that work harder and makes off-roaders look like outlaws.

Bottom line is that if you are wheeling and...

a) you aren't in an off-road park

b) aren't on private land with the land owners permission

...then you are wheeling illegally. Here in the northeast those are your only two options. Tread at your own risk.

I will not be going anywhere illegal or where I don't have permission to go. DEC Police, local Police and landowners have not made an example of me by giving me tickets or impounding my vehicle. I do as I'm told by them! That's responsible. I appreciate you telling me about Mt Beacon being illegal and I wont be going where I'm not wanted but I'd appreciate you not attempting to make an example of me in these forums . I understand the no illegal wheeling policy here. I'm also enjoying my Jeep quite a bit and hopefully I didn't encourage someone to illegally wheel by seeing for myself what the situation actually is.

Don. How was the HV4W meeting?
Good, was our 'Annual Meeting'. I got reelected for Trail Coord for another year. Over the winter we plan to finally incorporate (501,7c non-profit) and to get insurance for the club. Land owners you approach about using their land really like a formally incorporated and insured group.
