Ralph77 Driver's side is done.
As soon as the new bump stops come in get them bolted up.

Luke95 Just went through that on my 60. It was fun.

I drove mine like that for a week, before I removed the sway bar altogether.

Ralph77 So I pull out the new sway bar link and the bushing is ripped on it.
New in the box.
And of course we don't have any in the store so I won't see another
one till Monday.
So I am done for the day.

Ralph77 So I decided to get the driver's side sway bar link done today.
Pretty much the same problems. Bolt adhered itself to the metal sleeve in the bushing.
I actually had some bump stop left on this side but as soon as I touched it with my impact to
get the nut off the back it fell apart.

The end of the sway bar did not rot away in the bushing though so I won't have to Mickey Mouse this side.
But I did bust one of the bump stop bolts. Drill was to big to get in there. My impact driver is smaller and could
but the drill bits that you use with it did not seem to make any headway.
So I punched it out and it turns out the hole is a 1/2" in diameter.
Which is the exact size hole you would drill for a 5/16" rivnut.
And it turns out that the bump stop bolts are not metric. But 5/16-18.
Which is the exact rivnut size.
So I don't know how secure the rivnut is in there. It was a little awkward and tight trying to do this.
But I guess I will find out.

On my xj with tons I am doing a pair of hoops and shocks with built in bump stops for now. This winter it will get a 4 link and coilovers.

Luke95 I went to install my sye today but the pressure washer didnt want to start so that became a 2 hour adventure with the t case sitting in the tractors bucket.

What did you do to your XJ/MJ today?

Was looking through pics of my old one today. Sometimes I miss that thing. 1.5 of lift, 33s, daily driven. I beat the hell out of it and it was glad to take it.

TheBoogieman Just went outside and greased up all the fittings I could find. I was surprised there isn't any fitting on the rear driveshaft like the front has. It's hot as HELL out, but tomorrow is supposed to be 100 degrees with 98% humidity.

I'm in the same boat with the rear bump stops. At least now with the new shock setup, I have no chance of bottoming them out. My tires do come up and hit the body still though. Even being cut past the pinch seam.

I can relate. I finally got the DW under control on PJJ. Took it to WV and back. I had to use Map Quest for the miles. I calculated 17 mpg on 32" tires. I did a true WJ front Big Brake ie 5 on 5. And WJ or JK 5 on 5 rims. Going to look at an 00 or 01 Burgundy XJ over lunch. Non-running, but should be sensors. $800. Also, ordered a Steering brace, Sway Bar offset brackets and a Dakota Gear box plate from Ironman 4X4. I did have a few pre DW vibes. The steering shock seemed to have taken care of them.

My XJ has been off the road for almost a year. I do need it to get stuff, building materials in and out of my property in WV. Made a lot of progress on drywall and such in the mobile home.
