I bought the individual parts that were listed in the previous posts for my 2007 Patriot, and the install went great, BUT I missed the fact that the patriot does not have the three connector cable from the back of the clock spring to the brain box.
Does anyone have an OEM part number for this cable, an idea where i can get one, and/or the end clips I would need to just make my own cable?

Installed it today and it works great.
The part I had questioned was actually similar in number to the one already inside. So that number must have been a manufacturer number.
Two hours of my time & a $85 kit off eBay and my long trips will now be easier on the legs. Steering wheel removal took a lot of strength but got it off without breaking my face. Just did it in short bursts and it popped off at the end.
Many thanks to all that posted before. Was extremely helpful. I took tons of pictures just in case I had issues, but between this forum & the instructions I didn't need to refer back. If anyone needs them I will save them for any future need.

Thanks Gramps for your speedy reply.
Called the dealer I bought it from today and they said that it was the right kit, but the separate part numbers didn't come up in their lookup. Only thing for speed control was the current kit 82210489AC and that this kit 82210489 would still work with my 2009 Compass Sport. The items weren't listed separately for the cover, wiring harness, and switch. Said you can't buy the items separately.
The wiring harness number I had, he said that may be a manufacturer number and not a Chrysler part number. That number wasn't a good number and couldn't be found in the parts system. So maybe he's correct in that it's a manufacturer number.
Guess I will find out tomorrow when I put it in...

|Gramps||Part numbers do get superseded but there were no real changes between 2007 - 2010. That doesn't mean that it wasn't boxed wrong. I don't see that number coming up.|

Ok. I purchased a speed control kit online, Mopar # 82210489. Looks like it was manufactured in 2007.
Upon inspecting the parts in the kit, I am not sure about the wiring harness. It is # 607607500B. At least that is what is on the white plug part of the harness. Is this the right wiring harness for this kit? Just making sure before I go through all the trouble of putting this into my 2009 Jeep Compass Sport 4WD, that it is the right part.
The part number I saw in this forum post doesn't match what was in the box.
All other parts match, so I am guessing this was one of the original kits and the number of the harness was different.
Any help would be greatly appreciated... :=)

That trip at Christmas was a breeze with the speed control module added.
No pressure on the Achilles tendon. It behaved very will on all the varied hills.
The CVT with the SC is a match made in haven. No abrupt down shifts going up hill. No runaway down hill. Schweet.
Probably the easiest Jeep upgrade to install too.

Easy as cake
Took about an hour, including the drive to verify that it was working properly.
Steering wheel came off easy. Scratched an alignment mark before removing it.
Now the 800 mile trip for Christmas will be a lot easier.

Just ordered the SC harness. Don't want to do another NC to MA trip without it. Hopefully it is not as bad as effing with the steering wheel on my old 93 YJ.
I'll have to remember to file a report afterward.

Just wanted to post my experience.... Without this thread it wouldn't have been possible, so thanks all!!! The above is true, if you dont smack yourself in the face with the steering wheel, you didnt pull hard enough...
Mine is a 2008 patriot sport with FD II. Manual locks, manual windows, basicaly no options other than FDII and A/C.....
I bought just the switch and harness for around $100 i think (using the part numbers posted above), and cut the hole in my stock wheel with an exacto knife. It takes a little trimming, and doesnt look perfect if you really look at it, but honestly how often do you or anyone else look at the BACK of your steering wheel?
The first time I tried to install it, I could NOT get the wheel off. it would start to move, then STOP with a thunk. I could move it back and forth about 3/8 of an inch, but no more.... I gave up....
Some time later, I borrowed a steering wheel puller from a buddy, got the airbag off again, and then noticed it was the WRONG kind of puller.... well I was already in there, so i tried the pulling route again.... My wife was "helping" and I was pulling so hard she kept saying "dont break it" and "dont hurt yourself".... Y
You really do have to pull really REALLY REALLY REALLY hard to get it off. If its not coming off, you're not pulling hard enough, thats all there is too it. You arent going to break anything so dont worry about that (other than your face when it finally DOES come off....)
I looked and couldn't see why it was so hard... its a mystery....
Anyway, I ended up completly disassembling the wheel once I got it off.
The screws had me worried, I was just hoping I had something that would fit... Turns out there is nothing to worry about. There are no threaded holes you have to match, Its just a smooth hole in soft metal, so just about ANY screw of about the right diameter will cut its own threads when you install it. I just grabbed the first two I could find that looked about right and they worked great, they were button head machine screws, not even self tapping, but they still cut their own threads and worked great, so as long as you have a halfway decent collection of screws to pick from (and my collection couldn't really even be called halfway decent) you will be fine......
Anyway, I then put everything back together with the new harness (old went in the trash) and as soon as I hooked the battery back up and started the engine, I pushed the on/off button and "cruise" illuminated on the dash. SUCCESS!!!! Its so nice to have cruise now... I wish I had done two years ago!
