Hurricane4 FYI - OX Differential Covers - Height Chart:

steve801 You are right about the clearance to gas tank issues...I tried a few different covers and the Rugged Ridge worked best.

Hurricane4 My new OX Cast Iron AMC diff cover with fill and drain plugs arrived late this morning. I installed the new diff cover - very heavy - with a new OEM cork gasket and RTV (Ultra Black). I cut the heads off four two inch long 5/16 X 18 bolts and used those as guides. Made install much easier. I highly recommend this. I am now waiting until later tonight to finalize torque settings on the 12 stainless hex head bolts and plan to fill the diff late tomorrow. This OX cover is nearly the same height as the OEM steel cover. Thanks for everyone’s input. Much appreciated. See photos:

DaveMueller Same volume as OEM is nice. I have a stainless half dome cover, I think it take about 3 gallons! It was a big oops when I had to go buy more fluid.
The torque value is really light, I can see why a lot of covers are crushed. Follow the correct sequence too on a big cover like that. The Lock-n-Lube gasket is great but only works with an OEM or close replica, it fits in a groove in the cover which my aftermarket cover doesn't have. I used one of the two RTVs made for gear lube (Ultra black? or Great Stuff?) and no gasket.

Rumbles Nope.

Hurricane4 Is there a drain plug in the Rusty’s AMC Model 20 cover?

Rumbles I picked up this one from Rusty's. It is still in a box in my garage, but I'm closer to getting it installed than I was yesterday.

BagusJeep TORX are a torque in, not a torque out fastener. This means they are easy to gun in the factory and, if you keep them free of paint and gunge, can be reliably unfastened. Problem is, they are overtightened or painted or the wrong tool is put in.

Hurricane4 Talked to tech support at OX Off Road today. Their AMC 20 Heavy Duty Cover - SKU: OXAMC-16P -
measures 3.25 inches from the flat mounting surface to the outer most part of the cover.

I measured my factory/OEM cover at 3 3/16th or 3.188 inches. So the OX cover is very close to OEM.

Hurricane see picture of mine installed. It sticks out 2.5" from the mount flange. The bolts in the picture are what comes with the package.

RiverandSand I only seen those online not in person, so I have no clue to the size. Could try calling the manufacturer for the dimensions.

Yes, I have the same tank and shield but with a 4" lift. Most of the others covers are deeper, heavier and cost alot more than the Kentrol.

mpulokas I got the OX covers (from OX locker brand). a little spendy... https://ox-usa.com/product/oxamc-16p/
Cast and Heavy and looks nice. Drain plug and fill plugs a plenty. I think it more rounded out and will take more gear oil too. It come w/ new bolts. Make sure on the CJ AMC20 that you don't spring for a fancy gasket like lub-locker n such.. Just get the cheap thick cork one from Felpro and torque to spec.
