88formula tried all that.... turned key.. waited turned it again... then fired up

PolkaPower This is obvious but carb cleaner is flammable so take caution.

jtec when it is that HOT soak condition.

Have you tried - turn key to RUN do not start count to 3 then key off now try to start - I am thinking maybe a fuel issue.
and thats an easy suggestion.

88formula ok it fires right up cold... and fires fine hot if I have it off for less than 15 min... but it has to be really hot over 215-220 and sitting for more than 20min it starts up fine then 5 seconds later it starts to stumble... till you start moving then it straitens out

jtec when starting cold - the engine needs to crank or fires right up?

When hot - any difference?

jtec it is a process of test and elimination .
Adding my thoughts following the clues.

1st non sensor/electrical items on my mind;
fuel - pressure leaking down.
Coolant entering cylinder.
Vacuum leaks. and EVAP system leak.
right now valve train has me thiking - more coffee and I will thik on that

>> did you try the carb spray vac leak ck - esp when HOT? to easy to dismiss.
When you had the scanner did yu look at ECT and IAT?
no loss of coolant...zero vac leaks...I did the carb spray check....did not get good readings.. will be doing that on Friday...this is an intermittent problem and straitens out when it cools just a little .. I did not mean to be snippy.. I have been dealing with this for a month.. and im at my whits end

jtec trying to help, those were my 1st thoughts

Fuel pump all you said was replaced - is it NEW IDK is it good IDK.
Fuel pressure test and leak down you did not mention either. good leaves a bit of guessing.
replaced IAC did not have me thinking clean IAC air bleeds.

Are you loosing coolant?

yes on all.. cleaned out the ports when I changed it

Have you tried a fuel pressure drop, just KEY on, engine not running.
What is fuel pressure, high should be in @ 3seconds. Then check in 5minutes.

Plugs - correct plug and heat range. How do they look any clues? WET, black, tan, damaged?
Ahh, good point. Could be a fuel injector issue.

You are seeing correct ECT?
I am unclear did you change IAC - if so did you clean any air bypass ports?

jtec before the vapor lock suggestion where are you located - death valley?

Will your scanner let you look at live data?
