Awesome Nah, but it does help my turning radius. Also helps control wheel hop in 4WD, and it increases HP.

JarheadAl Thanks for all the replies. Work on the Jeep has been slow. My wife's grandmother died last weekend and there have been a few things that needed my wife's attention, which meant mine also. Work has also been slow and I'm not much of a mechanic, so I am learning as I go.

Installing a Rubicon Express 2.5" lift. My initial thoughts are to have it but I'm going to remove the when sway bar, remove the end links, drive it around the neighborhood, maybe around town some to see how it drives. Interstate driving is where I feel it may be necessary.

RockWoRM Not knowing what lift if any he has, I purposefully did not say junk the whole thing. I am still of the opinion any lift over 3" needs the sways and disco's. I still would try some PB blaster and let soak overnight.
I also do not recall the sway link stud bolt being tapered? But then it's been a while.

jbolty the way to separate any tapered joint is to apply pressure and smack it on the side. hard. not a tap, a good whack with a big hammer. doing this to those joints in the vehicle will be impossible, there is no way to get a decent swing at it.

as for tossing the whole thing, that's a different discussion.

04TJ-jeeper the more you look around the forum the more you'll notice most of us have junked the whole sway bar. awesome's post is spot on, if you're absolutely committed to saving your sway bar lots of PB blaster, let it sit. or heat and cool repeatedly to expand and contract the metal to break it free

JarheadAl Rockworm, I like the pickle fork idea. I have whacked it with a 3lb hammer, with the nut on. It didn't care.

Awesome, would you cut between the away bar and the bushing? Then you would still need to drive out what is in the sway bar? Am I understanding you correctly?

Awesome With a sawzall.

Or you can unbolt the bushings on the frame and pull the whole thing off in one piece.

You can use a torch or a plasma cutter too, just be careful about where the sparks are going.

RockWoRM PB blaster and a pickle fork. (bushing doesn't look new so no worries there) or put a nut on the stud and tap it out. Even a pitman arm puller might work if you can get enough meat to grab on the sway.
