|bgredjeep||Got a tracking number from PRP today. Seats should be here Monday, beating their 6wk estimate by a week and a half. Now I just gotta hope FedEx doesn't run over them with the truck.|

I pulled the trigger this evening. Should have new seats in about 6 weeks.
I dropped down from the Podiums for a couple reasons.
First, my buddy just happened to have ordered a pair of comp elite seats so I was able to try them on. They fit great and really felt like it will support my back and spread the load of any impacts effectively.
Next, it looks like the width of the of the podium seats at the shoulder (24") would require moving the seat mounts inward about an inch, which is a lot of work.
Finally, the Podiums taper in width all the way down the seat and are only 18" wide at the front of the seat per PRPs measurements. This was also stated by their cs rep when I called to discuss the options. The comp already felt appropriately snug and it's closer to 21" wide at the front so I was concerned about that being too tight.
If I had been able to test fit the podium, maybe I would have come to a different conclusion, but the closest place i know to try them is wide open design, about 6hrs away. Moving the seat mounts was the biggest factor really, because that would be a major pita.

good report on the surgery
Grateful for that for you

Surgery went well. My doctor seemed pleased with what he was able to clean up, and I'm not having leg pain currently so that's good. Now I'm working on recovering from the cut in my back so hopefully I'll be returning to normal in the next few weeks.
Also my back injury crawler is pretty much complete. The integy chassis showed up yesterday and I put it all together. I'm pretty happy with the result and it really hasn't broken the bank. I still need wheels since the steering I added doesn't clear the stock wheels.

|daddyjeep87||Insurance is such a joke. I am glad they are at least doing something to make things better, even if it is temporary.|

Insurance said no to the fusion surgery. Apparently they don't deem that medically necessary until you've had the disk fail 3 times, and I'm only at 2.
The good news is they did approve another discectomy so I should have some relief soon. Maybe it'll last this time, or maybe I'll get to do it all again soon. Time will tell.
On the plus side, recovery for this is much shorter so I should be able to get some wheeling in later this summer. I'd like to shoot for the ultra 4 race at aop if that still happens in July. I'll just have to see how things are going by then.

Oh man that stinks.
I’m feeling your pain. Literally.
I elected not to have surgery after a 1999 L3/L4 issue cuz I couldn’t afford the recovery time. Once I quit chiropractor after seeing my MRI shots, in the two months waiting to see the surgeon I improved. I’ve been blessed with mobility, had feeling return in my right leg, and have been fairly active for twenty years. The last month has been hell though.
Hopefully you get in sooner than later and your recovery is faster than expected!

Sorry to hear that, Red, but it sounds like you have identified the best path forward for you. We will be thinking about you. Amazing the things that life pulls out of the woodwork.

So for anyone following along, just wanted to drop a quick status update. I've been jumping through all the hoops and finally got confirmation yesterday that my MRI shows my disk is blown again. One of those times I wish I wasn't right, but the pain isn't going away and the imaging proves what I've suspected.
The good news is I have a path forward, but it's another surgery so big red and I will be out of commission for a while. I've opted for the fusion this time as I suspect the less invasive discectomy will just result in another failure down the road. I'm anticipating 6-12 months before the fusion is complete (vertebrae grown together) and strong enough to get back to my rougher activities, but I'm going to take it easy and do whatever the doctor wants to give myself the best chance at a positive outcome.
Good times ahead. I'm going to get this scheduled asap so I can start healing.
