|steve12327||My stuff from Amazon finally arrived. I can check things now. Transmission level is fine and oil looks ok. I will change it when it melts down some. I have to do it in a snow and ice filled driveway and it was -28c this morning. My code reader says P0705 and P0730. No other codes. I have been researching a lot more since I got the codes. I am leaning towards conductor plate, TCM or ESM. I will keep you posted.|

|steve12327||Thank you, that gives me quite a bit to start with. Jeep has about 160000 km. I have only had it for about 5000 km so I am not sure when the transmission was serviced last, possibly never.|

Welcome to the forum. The very first thing you should do is hook up a quality diagnostic scanner (one that can read the tranmission) and see if there are any transmission related diagnostic trouble codes (DTC). Some low end scanners will give you a P0700 code which is basically telling you that there is a problem with the transmission. Next check the transmission fluid level using the instructions in the Factory Service Manual (FSM). You'll need a dipstick marked in 5 mm increments, a way to read the transmission fluid temperature, and the fluid/temperature level chart from the FSM. When is the last time the transmission was serviced? How many miles on the vehicle?
Once you've established the fluid level and service status is current and it still acts up, there are a few other things that can cause similar problems. Check for any ABS and/or ESP DTC's. Wheel speed sensor(s), and the conductor plate on the valve body can cause all kinds of strange issues.

Jeep wont shift out of low gear
My 2007 Jeep Grande Cherokee, diesel wont shift out of low gear. Everything else works normally. It did this several times and I shut off the engine and restarted the Jeep , then it worked. I have google searched for days and cant find anyone who has had a similar problem.
I cleaned the ESM. I found a post where the ESM can get graphite in between the contacts but it didnt work.
Before it stopped shifting completely it would occasionally rev up but not really go anywhere, like the torque converter wasnt working properly. Again, shutting off and restarting fixed the problem.
If anyone has any ideas or where to look , please help.
