keith460 So tell me, what is the source and part number for this hose that is very difficult to find? Not that I don't have the correct one, but it is always a good idea to have a future source for this hose if the need arises. And, I have two of those straight coolant nipples in my parts inventory if you need them.

Dude, seriously, that is awesome of you to find and send that to me - obviously, that's exactly what I wanted and didn't even bother thinking it existed - I thought I would 'scrap' it together - elbow-elbow-straight-elbow-hose kinda' thing.

Sorry my answer was long winded. At least the pictures were pretty - right?

I don't know, probably a medley of things. Something like that. Also, I have a Toyota Land Cruisers (ouch, those arrows in the back really hurt guys, stop it...) - not the old ones, the new ones. I've got a Series 200 2011 and it's amazing - so many buttons...

Anyway, if you've spent any time dealing with Asian engine compartment design, you see that anything that must go from point A to point B under the hood is solid tubing. Meaning, if there's any expectation of vibration say in the way a radiator connects via a hose to the engine vs. anything that has no potential to vibrate, it's a solid hose, pipe, tube.

So, this being one of the 3 (or 4?) Mystery Hoses that has ceased to be manufactured, AND it has no vibration, I was thinking I would remove the nipple and replace it with an brass elbow to a hard hose to the thermostat housing - either out of copper or 3/4 hard tubing.

Here's the retro repair job I did because this amazing site and either John or Matt or some other amazing fellow Jeep nerd supplied the part number for the hose that comes pretty close to perfect to the original:

pedal2themetai HI the nipple is screwed into the intake that's why the wrench but a wrench won't do it you need a Pipe wrench to hold the pipe to turn it but yes use a dowel so you don't crush it.

Hmm, never heard of that procedure - I'll give it a try.

....what about the part with a big wrench.....?

baldfatdad I'd soak it a day or two in 50/50 acetone and auto trany fluid. Stick a metal dowel down it, to help to not crush it. Soak it in Freeze off and give it a try.

Manifold Bypass Nipple Removal

Anybody have any luck removing the Manifold Bypass nipple (manifold side, not Thermostat House side)?


Engine: 1984 CJ-7, I6 (4.2L, 258cid, 4200cc, 1.11 Gallons, 284 US-tsp, etc.)
