To keep everyone posted, We finally have it running again!! Yeah. We replaced the clutch safety switch since that was broken. Then it still wouldn’t start, ended up replacing the electric ignition actuator. It started at that point. But upon moving it outside of garage noticed the battery wasn’t holding the charge and upon closer inspection the battery also had a loose connection. With that tighten and all the new parts, hopefully we’ll good to go for awhile.

This has always confused me. My '05 LJR has no terminal contacts in the #28 slot.
I ended up disconnecting the switch under the steering column, and jumping the harness.
This has been working for me 10+ years.

|mukluk||Installing the fuse in PDC slot 28 will allow you to start the '05/'06 Jeep with the clutch pedal out, regardless of transfer case or transmission position. The note about 4L only is a CYA safety note trying to keep people from leaving the switch defeated all the time.|

True according to the 2005 Owner’s manual, & you must be in 4Lo for it to work but this is in the 2006 manual p. 187…
Clutch Interlocking Ignition System (Non —
Rubicon Models Only)
Manual transmission vehicles are equipped with a clutch
interlock safety feature. With this feature engaged, you
must depress the clutch pedal to allow cranking of the
engine. To temporarily bypass this safety feature while
off-road driving (4L range only), which will allow cranking
the engine without depressing the clutch, follow
1. Locate the Power Distribution Center (PDC) in the
engine compartment. Refer to “Fuse Panel” in Section 7
of this manual. (See page 305 for more information.)
2. Put a 10 Amp fuse in the PDC cavity (#28) marked as
NOTE: A fuse is provided in fuseblock cavity (f19 or
f20) marked as Spare.
So??? I do know jumping the switch will work.

as mentioned jumping the CPPS will bypass.

FYI the CPPS is part of clutch 'master' or hydraulic cylinder.

There is no fuse 20 bypass for ’05 & ‘06s.
I don’t know how the clutch switch works (I have an auto) but if in doubt you can unplug the connector to the switch & put a jumper wire across the 2 terminals in the connector. Then see if it starts. If not, the problem is not the that switch.
If you are getting the (normal) cluster lighting up when you turn the key on but nothing from the starter when you turn to start the most common reason is a broken actuator tip. Here is a link to easily check it & how to start it if it is broken.

|RLD831||I can check if mine does when I get back to my Jeep later, but for now you could install a fuse in the clutch override, behind the glove box. That will bypass the check entirely.|

Own a 2006 Rubicon, which at the moment won’t start. Wondering if the clutch switch should slide up and down on the rod?
