MetalMountainGoat Got the steering fixed today and the correct wiper switch installed. Turns out that the steering issues were actually caused by me. I put the steering shaft together incorrectly which cause all my problems.

MetalMountainGoat I love it. Puts a big grin on your face when you drive it. Reminds of my old 78 CJ7. The only thing I don't like about them is that my engine is obviously located forward about 2 inches too much. I had to cut way more out of the fenders than I should have, but they worked out anyways.

One other update, since I now have my e fans blowing the correct direction, the Jeep never gets above 190deg. Cooling problem....FIXED!

TIPPEDITOVER Angled down 10 degrees he says hahaha. Good one. Hey you know what, if you like how it sounds, then

MetalMountainGoat Haha, it will be loud enough to hear. This thing sounds so good with the side pipes, that I could listen to it all day. The pipes are angled down about 10 degrees so that they dont make u go deaf.

A radio in a Jeep? Isn't that kinda like having a radio on a motorcycle? Haha looks good.

MetalMountainGoat More Header progress today. Got the driver's side header finished completely. The passenger side is installed and in, but I am going to have to clearance it for my steering shaft. Found out that my cherry bomb glass packs had a 3" flange ring, and the advanced adapters headers have a 2.5". I cannot find an adapter, so I may be sending these cherry bomb glass packs back and going smaller. I did fire it up on open headers, and it sounds mean. I am going to have to do a little carb adjustment on it, since it idles at like 500RPM now. Nothing too bad though. Once I clearance the steering shaft, I should be good to go, it will just be loud until I find some adapters.

MetalMountainGoat So made some progress today. Got the old headers fully removed, and the surfaces cleaned. Began installing the fenderwell exit headers. It was way more of a job than I originally thought. I did manage to get one of them bolted up. I didn't realize that I was going to have to cut my inner fender as much as I had to. Also, finally got to cut off those nerf bars made of drain pipe. Made the side of the jeep much cleaner looking. Nonetheless, I like the way it came out. My tire is very close to the header when turning, and I hope that doesn't pose a problem later on. This jeep won't be off roaded much, so it shouldn't. But I would still like to have peace of mind that the tire won't touch the header. Pics below as usual.

These Advance Adapters conversion headers are beautiful, and came with everything needed to install them. I was quite impressed other than their slow shipping.

Thank you for following along. I've always kind of viewed this thread as just a progress tracker, but it is nice to know that a few people are getting enjoyment out of it.

MetalMountainGoat I think I may have solved my engine running a tad hot issue. I still need a shroud, but I was under the impression that the e fans would cool this thing from 210 to 190 in a second while sitting in traffic. Did some investigating, and turns out that I had them wired backwards. Changed the wiring and now the blow a ton of air through the radiator and into the engine bay. Shouldn't have any issues staying cool in traffic now. I would still like to locate a shroud for it if I can get one made or cut one up to make it work.

Still waiting on the headers, but hopefully i'll be driving this thing around again by the end of the week.

MetalMountainGoat Spent a little more time with the jeep today. Only about an hour. Got the bug screen installed. Made the front look a lot cleaner now that the e fans aren't as noticeable behind the grille.

MetalMountainGoat Update: Got my new trans tunnel cover completed with new shift boot as well. Also got the exhaust cut out and began removing the headers. Passenger side header is off. Going to remove the driver's side monday then I'll just waiting on my new headers to arrive. Opened the side pipes up and found out that they are both damaged. In kinda pissed about that, but it isn't worth the time and effort to ship it back to summit. I will fix the damage and move on.

MetalMountainGoat My headers finally shipped. Advance Adapters has been slow over the holiday. I should have them by next Wednesday. I am going to start removal of the old headers over the weekend, and try to have everything prepped so that the new ones can go on as soon as they show up.

MetalMountainGoat Shift boot came in today, Headers are on order, Cherry Bomb mufflers have already arrived. Hoping to have the headers and mufflers on by the end of this week.
