Curmudgen | Thanks for the additional advice. I had printed off a few pages, but saving them to a device locally hadn't even crossed my mind. I'll be doing that very soon. |

Download the entire TSM and have it ready for use. A few years back my wife gave me a Nook--an electronic reader. I downloaded the TSM and copied it to the reader. I recently got a new Nook which cost me $50. I keep the old one charged and take it with me when I go work on the Jeep. However you choose to use it this TSM in PDF will be a tool you use often. Good luck! |

Here's something WAY more useful and accurate than your Haynes manual: http://oljeep.com/edge_74_tsm.html This one too: http://oljeep.com/edge_74_parts_manual.html |

Thanks, CSP I appreciate the quick response. #6 may still be the hazards. When I pulled on that "handle" it just came off. Guess I will be getting out the pliers to see if I can get any of these to pull out or turn. If not, at least I know what should be in a few of these. The others are probably to things that got stripped off before my father got it 10 years ago. |

Of them, only #2 and $3 are factory switches/indicators, with 3 being the wipers and 2 the label/indicator for the wiper switch. The Choke is buried in the indicator spot for the hazards. Whatever that is in #6 is sitting where the hazard light switch is supposed to be. |

1974 CJ5 Dash lights and switches? I just recently inherited a 1974 CJ5 with an in-line 6 (232). The dash is pretty much toast. I need some assistance in learning what all the indicators and switches are supposed to do. 1 - Unknown - it pulls out but doesn't seem to do anything 2 - Some sort of an indicator. I think it has something to do with #3 3 - Unknown 4 - Unknown 5 - I think it says "BRAKE" on it, but I don't know what it is supposed to be. A button, an indicator light? 6 - Unknown I just purchased a Haynes Repair Manual for the 1949 through 1986 CJ hoping it would provide me some additional information on my particular dash, but it did not. I am brand new to this site, so if there is somewhere I can go on here or another site to assist in my learning about my jeep and what these lights and switches are supposed to do, I would greatly appreciate the assistance. |
