|jeepwhore||The difference in width at the rear is equal to the thickness of both frame rails. On a CJ, the outside of the frame rails lines up with the sides of the inner wheel well. On a YJ, it's the inside of the frame rails that does.|

I think I'm going to get the fuel pump for the 15gal sending unit and add it the the existing unit in the tank.
Not the direction I was hoping for, but I guess I'm kinda stuck here.

|Bobs85Reny||I have both a yj and cj's. The yj we are doing exactly what you are looking to do. It has the 20 gal tank with the mts fuel system. I can give you some measurements tonight but there is no way that tank would fit in the cj frame. even using a yj tub.|

|nickmorris27||I currently have a YJ tub and left the gas filler on the driver side. I am currently using an early YJ metal 15gal tank that is similar to the CJ 15 gal tank with CJ skid. No fuel pump in the tank and filler necks are on the driver side. Now I am doing a 4.0L swap and got a 15/20 Gal (same footprint) plastic YJ tank with it since i need fuel pump. I liked the idea of having an internal factory pressure pump. I thought the frame rails had the same inner dimensions in the rear. I know the front is different. Does anyone know the size difference. I guess the question now is that..|

I have a YJ tank in mine using a CJ skidplate. I used a MTS replacement tank for an early YJ 4 cylinder when I went fuel injection, and yes it fits.
Sorry I can't comment on the TJ skidplate though.

|BagusJeep||Also the filler is in a different position, so a fair bit of work to get it on, even if the frame was big enough.|

|jeepwhore||I think you're putting the cart before the horse......unfortunately the YJ tank is too wide to fit between the CJ frame rails so your questions are kind of moot....Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, lol.|

TJ Skid with YJ tank in a CJ
First post here...
Just wondering if anyone has done this or what would need to be done. If this doesn't work, I may go about making my own.
1st- I am wondering if a Warn TJ gas tank skid plate will hold a 90's YJ plastic 20gal tank. I could get a TJ tank, but would that fit?... I do have 1" body lift.
2nd- Will a TJ gas tank skid fit a CJ7 frame? Exhaust can be modified.
Thanks in advance.
