dmill89 It should be on the side of the passenger side tank near the bottom (unless they changed them since my 2015). It isn't really a petcock (that would be a valve), but an actual plastic plug that unscrews.

Why are they draining the cooling system on a nearly new vehicle (the coolant should last 5 years), are you having an issue (this would likely be covered under warranty, in which case I'd suggest a dealer), or are they draining it to install an accessory (aux oil/trans cooler, etc.)? If they told you it needs changed already run fast......

In any case drain plugs/pet cocks on radiators (especially plastic ones which virtually every new car has) can be dicey at best, they often never seal right again after being removed/opened (and stripped plastic threads are common), I usually drain my radiator by removing the lower hose instead for this reason, unless I'm replacing the radiator anyhow (in which case I don't really care if it seals again) it makes a little more of a mess (a big catch pan can help with this), but often saves a lot of hassle.

Radiator drain plug location - 2017 Patrior

My local mechanic says he can't find the radiator drain plug (or is it called a pet cock?) for my 2017 Patriot. He seemed to think it didn't actually HAVE one. So I have two questions: where is the drain plug (or whatever it's called) located? Is this a valid thing for a mechanic to not be able to locate, or do I need to find another person to service my Patriot? This is the first time I've been to this shop.
