Well after what like 5 years, I finally have my jeep up and running and on the road. Still have some stuff to do. Need to finish some wiring cleanup, get it all in loom, get a new oil pan, and a few other odds and ends. However, I have been driving it a little. I i continually make improvements on the tune, it builds 10lbs of boost and is very fun and zippy to drive. Does not feel like a little 4 cylinder. Overall I am pretty happy and I'm sure it will be getting driven by my wife and myself quite often.

|YjNW||Hey, I've been watching your project for a while and I'm wondering how progress is going? I'm running a MS2 on my YJ with a 2.5 and the last thing I'm battling is the smart alternator, which is looking for a pulse-width signal to control output voltage. Super interested in your project!|

Well I haven't gotten as much done as I would have liked. I was hoping to be all done with wiring last weekend. but I discovered that there are no local suppliers of cross link (gxl, sxl, txl,) wires. Had to order some online. I also had the big plan of fabbing up my downpipes off the turbo, but I decided that would be way easier with the engine back out of the jeep. Still kinda poking around what I should do for a in the tank fuel pump. Most likely will use a walbro pump I found on eBay.
The things i did get somewhat done is my relay and fuse box. I still have to have the + ignition switch wired into it, fuel pump wired out of it, and three grounds controlled by the ecm into it. I also set the radiator back in it, and i think what i am going to do is custom build (or maybe have built) a radiator and intercooler all in one. The 4cyl radiator is tiny, and there is enough room to put a small intercooler next to it. I found a shop that can integrate a radiator and a intercooler all in one for me, or sell me the parts so I can weld it up.

For the booster, why don't you look into one of the aftermarket CJ-7 8" booster kits?
You can find them cheaper with a simple google search.

Well I didn't get much done today other than ordering exhaust parts, and wiring parts. I ended up deciding to run 2.5 Stainless exhaust, with a magna flow muffler. So it will have have a 3" down pipe, then a reducer to get it into 2.5". I was going to run 3" just for the heck of it, till I discovered the price of 3" stainless u bends and parts. O well 2.5" will be fine for the little 4 banger.
I also got my ECU mounted. I really couldn't fit it very well anywhere behind the dash, and I couldn't bring my self to drill any holes in the firewall. I was hoping to mount it where the original ECU was, but how the plug comes out of this one wouldn't allow it. I ended up mounting it on the left wall inside the glove box, and running the wires out the top. I usually don't like stuff mounted in the glove box, but I figured "why not"
So now I am waiting for my parts, and trying to think of stuff I can do while I wait.
I guess i better start figuring out what I am going to do for a brake booster and master.

Well I made some really good progress yesterday. I had no motivation to do real work, so I basically just worked on the jeep all day. Anyway, the engine is in, at least for now. It actually went pretty smooth. Only a couple issues. 1. although the exhaust fit better then I thought it would, it will still require some fab work to get the downpipes away from the body and snaked along the bell housing. 2. The stock booster is very close to the throttle body. Anybody know the diameter of a YJ booster. I need to do something to gain more clearance. I did the YJ conversion years ago on another CJ, but for the life of me I can't remember if the physical size is the same. Anybody know the size differences on the YJ vs CJ brake booster and master set up? Im willing to look into any other conversions too.

|dn101009||Got it started up on the stand today. Have a small oil leak right at the turbo inlet I can't get figured out. I think i may have to change the AN fitting out. Just seems to seep out of the fitting. To be honest, I have never been a fan of AN fittings. They have always seemed a bit overkill and too complicated for most applications. Other than that, broke the turbo in just like how the instructions said. I may have to run a scavenge pump, which I did not want to do. Next step, is getting the jeep outside and the engine bay all cleaned up. Ill have to eliminate the wiring that I no longer need now. I really need very little wiring other than for the lights, charging and A/C. now. Most everything else will be in the ECU harness. I am looking forward to doing some final wiring and getting all my crappy temporary wiring cleaned up on the engine.|

|dn101009||I left that pipe long. I will most likely have to weld on a sharp downturn to make it work. I am actually pretty nervous about the fit. My buddy and I did the header about 5 hours away from the jeep, so It was a bit of a shocker when I got it home and realized how far back we mounted the turbo.|
