Is there anything else for ATV's or Razor? My nephew lives in Kearney I'm just trying to see what our options are.

Went there yesterday to do some exploring. Looks like there's lot of trails. Went down a couple, went to the White tail campground. Had a fun day. Great way to spend the day off!

|xtylerx||It was just the ORV map they had that you can grab from the little information center at the main parking lot when you pull into the forest.|

|cherrybomb05||Cool! Thanks for the update. What trail map did you use?|

Updating on Halsey trip:
Had a great time down there, like others have said it's just all sand, and just simple cruising through the sandhills and forest.
If you're looking for something challenging I'd definitely suggest going elsewhere, but for a nice relaxing weekend getaway it was fun.
Someone in our group said it took us 9 hours to cover only roughly 30 miles of trails, and by the look of the trails map there was a bunch more trails we didn't even go on.
Half the people brought campers and the other half of us stayed at the 4H Camp Cabins at the forest, I believe it was $20 per head per night.

|cherrybomb05||I used to go there and rode four wheelers. Was a lot of fun. I didn't jeep when I rode four wheelers though. Some friends and I are headed there next month. Not sure what to expect. Mind updating me and letting me know what you found?|

Supposed to head to Halsey at the end of this month with a group of people with Jeeps.
I had a couple questions for those that have gone
-Do they still have a lot of trails open for Jeeps?
-Is it worth the drive to check out even?
-Just simple roads? Is there any interesting trails for Jeeps?

I'm a little late to the party, but check out this thread and bump it if you head back out to the Broken Bow area-
It is private land that is wheeled once in awhile, but with enough notice you might be able to give them enough time to round up some other local 4x4 guys. Also see the Canyon Crawl thread in the trip reports subforum for more pictures and keep an eye out for Canyon Crawl 2011 info to get posted later in the summer.

Haven't they heard of Halsey? More specifically, the Nebraska National Forest at Halsey. It's about 40 miles west of Broken Bow on Hwy 2 and the park is about 1 mile west of town. There's hundreds of thousands of acres to drive on. Lots of trails for trucks and Jeeps and ATV's too. I have spent a LOT of time up there the last 3 years and have recently mapped all the trails with GPS for a "Travel Managment Plan" that will take effect next winter. Anyway, here are some pics...
This is typical of what is there. It's all sandhills.
This is the hill climb.
Another trail. This one's in the trees.
It really is a cool place. Lots of trails in the trees but even more out in the wide open sand hills. If you're used to 'wheelin in Colorado you might get bored because there are no rocks. All sand. But if you want to just get away for some easy drivin' I would definitely check it out.
Unfortunately, there are not very good maps of the trails - which is why I made my own. Their maps only show the main ones.
I wish I could go with you guys and show it to you, but our group isn't going up there until April...
I have TONS more pictures and videos. If you want some more, I can send you some on e-mail. Have fun if you go!
