I have been having fits after installing a new motor and Weber 32/36 Carb conversion from JCWhitney. I can't seem to get it to run right no matter what I do and there are SO many opinions on how to hook up vacuum advance. Red Line told me to use the ported (EGR) valve on the carb, and to cap the other vacuum port, but I've heard from others that Weber says to NOT use the vacuum advance at all and run the timing up to 12 DBTDC. My Jeep has no smog parts except the charcoal canister. The EGR is capped and will be coming out when I can find a plate for the manifold. There is a 3/8" ID vacuum line coming from what looks to be the bowl vent high on the front of the carb base, going to the charcoal canister. The disk shaped Valve(?) on the vent to the far right on the canister seems to be missing it's top. Today, I disconnected the bowl vent line from the canister to the carb, and the engine perked up with air coming in. Is this normal? If I plug it, I'm right back to rough idle. Can I run a line into the air cleaner assembly feeding this vent, or am I just loosing my mind here? PLEASE somebody help. I'm just learning, but nothing I do seems to work!!!!

|green89yj||I still didn't get my stuff hooked up. Where are the PCV and CCV supposed to go? CCV goes to base of the carb to be burnt off and PCV goes to the canister right? Maybe?|

|River Ryder||I didn't seem to get water in mine. The parking lot at work flooded alot. So water crossing was a regular occurrence. I used to push the dumpsters back to the dock all the time when they floated away.|

|navman||The only thing the charcoal cannister does is remove the chance of gas fumes from building up. It has no effect good or bad on how the engine runs, so why bother removing it.|

|green89yj||sweet. thanks man. those diagrams are awesome. I wanna get some of that hooked back up. So the rollover check valve goes to where? and the carb bowl vent is the one just below that right? I have the carter so we might be speaking two different languages here.|

I found the charcoal canister, & the rollover valve need to be properly connected or I get the fumes at the back of the jeep.
Fuel vapors are flammable, mmm-kay?
If you decide to reconnect it all. Then these diagrams might be helpful.
Also the rollover valve & it's related rubber connector are available from the jeep dealer for YJ's.
The white plastic part is the rollover valve p/n j5360058. $10.00 at the dealer. Usually these are just fine & can be re used. The black rubber part is the connector. p/n 53004047 is about $30.00 at the dealer. These are usually dry rotted. There is supposed to be a plastic clip, which holds the metal line to the forward bulkhead of the compartment that it lives in.

|green89yj||yes. I got one right. : I have been messing with some emissions stuff and I am thinking about ripping a lot of it out. The PO has a bunch of stuff doubled back and corked up with bolts and such.|
