WSS The Yaesu FTM-400 is easily expanded for "low" power GMRS and MARS. I have done a few with no issues. The RT software is easy to use and (IMHO) needed to use the full features seamlessly.

A buddy of mine has the FTM-400. Lots of bells and whistles. The FTM-100 which started out in my Super Duty and moved to my Compass as soon as I bought it, is a dandy radio. In the home shack I have an FT-8900. That is also a good radio. If you're in to Fusion and all that I'd go FTM-100 or FTM-400. If not, the 8800 would be a good radio. It has been around in various forms for a long time. The FTM-100 lacks the dual receive that is really handy. The 8800 has that and is handy.

The one thing I like about the FTM-100 is programming it with the computer and an SD card, it is super simple. As long as you buy the RT Systems software. The factory software does not work. Or I couldn't get it to do what I wanted.

In my Super Duty, I put a FTM-3100 in it. Then I went to Kenwood TM-71A. Which I am liking. I use the 3100 for events.

badweatherbiker still running an old FT-2500 in my YJ, neither seems to want to quit

wes11b10 W9YYH/Wes here.
I only run Motorola mobiles (MaxTracs, Astro Spectra, Astro Spectra +, even an old Syntor X9000) and HTs (Astro Saber, XTS2500s, XTS3000s) As soon as I can afford one for HF mobile, I'll run a Micom too.
I try to be a good ambassador for amateur radio, encouraging my friends who off-road to get their tickets, telling them that a little studying can yield big benefits for both safety and convenience.
